Welcome to the Seahorse Film Festival, a celebration of short filmmaking from Newcastle, Australia, and beyond. Taking place over a weekend at the stunning Harold Lobb Concert Hall at the Conservatorium of Music, the festival allows filmmakers to present work of all genres to a live audience.
Over two nights, the festival will bring together filmmakers, industry professionals, and film enthusiasts to celebrate the art of short filmmaking. The screenings will feature a diverse mix of films from the Open Category (International), showcasing works under 20 minutes from around the world, with a top prize of $5000. Alongside these, the next generation of filmmakers—high school students from Newcastle and the Central Coast—will present their short films of under 5 minutes, competing for $2000 for themselves and their schools.
